Dear Diary – Boulder, CO

Dear Diary,

It was a good day for us today in Boulder, CO. We started it off all responsible like by getting a bunch of work done in the morning and then by getting the van’s oil changed and tires rotated. After a solid morning/afternoon of acting like adults, we decided to treat ourselves with some crazy good pizza from Pasta Jay’s for dinner.

After dinner we decided to drive down to Red Rocks where they were showing (the second greatest movie of all time) Office Space. Now, Red Rocks holds 9000 people, so you could imagine our surprise/disappointment when we got there and found out that the movie was completely sold out. Dustin pointed out (in usual Dustin fashion) that if we had better planned our evening that maybe we would have called ahead and reserved tickets. He’s probably right, but I’ll never admit that.

Since our non-planned plans fell through we decided to head back to Pearl Street in Boulder to hang out. After helping out a few “campers” with some “spare change” to help them buy “bus tickets” we were feeling pretty good about ourselves until we came across another do-gooder who had one-upped us with this…

Some nice boys were trying to return a lost cat

If you have trouble reading the sign, it says:

Found Cat
I found this cat on Moorly
ave. a couple of days ago.
He’s not very friendly but he’s
probably just scared.

If this is your cat please call…

Just melt’s your heart doesn’t it?

So after that we headed down the road to a coffee house that was having an open mic night poetry night set to music. We found out that only special guests and insanely talented people were allowed to participate in this night of euphonic wonder, so of course we jumped on stage when the host of the night asked if anyone knew any Michael Jackson songs. With me and Mark on acoustic guitars, Dustin on upright piano and Luke on the wooden box; we ripped through the greatest arrangement of ‘Billie Jean’ you’ve ever heard. It was so awesome, in fact, that we had to follow it up with ‘September’ by Earth Wind & Fire – complete with a flute solo interlude.

Ok, so even though it wasn’t the best we’ve ever sounded, it was a ton of fun. The best part is that I think we may have picked up a few new fans for our show tomorrow night. We’ll see.

Yours truly,
Joe

  1. Joe will also never admit that Office Space (while definitely a great movie) is in NO WAY the second best movie of all time.
