Fans Have The Power

FE fans at the Pageant

As we’ve gone along in the process of recording, playing, and working so hard to make FE a success, I’ve realized something… we talk a lot about our efforts for success, we keep everyone informed on what “we are doing”, BUT we fail to address the ONE topic that truly defines our success… The Fans.    Ultimately, in the end, it doesn’t matter how good our new CD is, and it doesn’t matter how great we perform a live show, without fan involvement, those would only be fun ways to kill time.  If we make an incredible CD, but the 5 of us are the only ones to hear it…. there is little sense of satisfaction, or pride in the album.  If we technically perform at the best of our abilities, but we do it to an empty room, no matter how technically great we played, there is no passion involved.  The truth is, the real fulfillment in what we do is SHARING it with people who are excited to share it with us.

Things have changed immensely from the late 80’s and early 90’s, when the music industry had the power to establish artists merely by their media influence.  That is still true to some extent, but on a MUCH smaller scale than it used to be.  With today’s industry turning more to independent bands and labels, and because of the accessibility of music on the internet, today’s primary success marketing tool has become word of mouth, and recommendation by peers.  Gone are the days, when a person living in Seattle could only hear about an artist in Atlanta, if they achieved National Radio Support.  All it takes now is someone emailing a link, or visiting myspace.  This is partially why so many Major Record labels are struggling.  They don’t know how to operate, unless THEY can dictate what becomes popular, and they want to convince you the fans, what to like.  But now a days, you get to decide for yourselves.

This is where you come in.  If we have failed to say it in the past, the truth is, our success lies in your hands, your emails, and your playlists.   We couldn’t have possibly come as far as we have without all of you coming to the shows to support us.  Or without you buying our CD, and then playing it for a friend, and inviting them to the next show.  Or when you wear our t-shirt to your bowling league, our your post prom party and someone asks you about it.  We certainly cannot make it any farther in this business, without your continued support.  In the near future, as this album surfaces, and we begin to tour more again, we are going to begin to try to really focus on your help.  We are going to REALLY utilize our street team, and ask more help of everyone on board with us.So please sign up for that if you aren’t on it, we would love your help.  We are going to do everything we can to give you something to be excited about, and want to share with everyone you know.  As we push forward and see all the exciting things on the horizon, just keep in mind that you guys are the ones with the power to make things happen.
Thanks again for all the support.  The album is going to be great… we can’t wait to see what you all make of it!
